Compensation & Benefits

AAS aims to attract the very highest level of teaching and administrative staff and recognizes the roll that competitive compensation and benefits play in this goal.

We are reconized as a leading international school both here in Bulgaria and Europewide.  Part of this reputation stems from our investment in recruiting outstanding staff and faculty.  Relocating to a new country - or leaving a current position here in Bulgaria - is not a decision to be taken lightly.  It is important that AAS will be a good fit for you - and any family members who may be with you.

The tables below provide a good guide to the extensive range of benefits that employment at AAS offers.  Further details on salary and other relocation allowances will be discussed at interview.
 

Compensation & Benefit Overview

Internationally Recruited Staff

The chart below provides a brief overview of remuneration, benefits and support in the relation to full-time internationally recruited staff.

Salary Competitive for the region.
Savings potential is enhanced due to reasonable cost of living in Bulgaria.
Housing Provided by the school and assigned by the school.
Staff may have some input on location and type depending on local market.
Utilities

School covers 50% of utilities cost associated with housing.

Transportation

Initial travel to Sofia to begin contract.
Lump sum travel allowance after first year of service.
Travel to and from home of record is covered each subsequent year of service.
Shipping The school covers, at the beginning and end of service, 400 kilograms per school employee and 150 kilograms per dependent.
Visa & Work Permit Fees associated with the visa and work permit are covered by the school.
Tuition for Dependents Tuition, registration and capital fees covered for up to two children attending AAS.
In the case of AAS employed teaching couples - tuition, registration and capital fees covered for up to three children attending AAS.
Insurance

Health insurance (does not include vision and dental - these items are very reasonable in Sofia).
Long and short-term disability, group life, accident.

Settling Allowance Lump sum per household.

Meal Allowance

Lunch card for the cafeteria is provided, which subsidises cost of school meals.
Retirement Annual lump sum.
Financial assistance from a professional planner is provided.
Computer A school computer is issued upon arrival.
The above belongs to the school and is returned to the school at end of service.
Computers are updated every three to four years depending on model condition and depreciation.
Extra-Curricular Compensation Coaching of CEESA team, activity, group includes a credit of 200 Euros (roughly 400 Leva) which is added to the professional development allowance or meal allowance depending on the employee's preference.
If travel is involved - travel cost, food and accommodation costs are covered by the school.
Professional Development In general, the school has a four-tiered approach: in-house PD, required external PD, goal related PD and personal professional support.
Upon school approval staff have access to a personal professional development sum that can be used annually or accrue for up to three years.

Local International Teaching Staff
