Dear AAS Community Members,

Welcome back!  I hope that everyone enjoyed a rejuvenating summer, whether you decided to travel abroad, explore Bulgaria, or enjoy a bit of peace and quiet in Sofia.  The AAS Board is excited to have you back on campus and we’re off to a great start to the year with the PTO’s ever-popular Welcome Back BBQ and our Back to School Nights, where I hope you were able to connect with our excellent teaching staff, including some talented new members of the team.

Speaking of teams, last March I highlighted a volunteer opportunity to serve as the Community Representative on the AAS Board of Directors.  We received an incredible response and I want to thank every person who raised their hand to serve in this critical role.  After careful consideration, the Board selected Milena Badjova to represent you – our AAS community – in shaping the long-term vision for our school.  Thank you to Milena for taking on this responsibility, to our new Board representative from the UK Embassy Siân Brown, and to the rest of our returning colleagues.  You can read more about the AAS Board members on the school website: https://www.aas-sofia.org/discover/leadership

For those parents interested in getting more involved at AAS, I want to encourage you to join the first Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meeting next Wednesday, September 16 at 10:00 in the Rila Community Room.  Everyone is welcome and there are so many ways to participate, from small roles to big ones.  A strong PTO is essential to creating the unique learning environment that makes AAS so special – and we need your help to make it successful!

Wishing everyone a productive 2026-2027 school year and thank you again to everyone who has taken the time to share your thoughts with me and my fellow board members.  We welcome your continued feedback and look forward to connecting with you over the coming months!
