Supporting the CEDAR Foundation

Jacqueline:The Cedar Foundation is a club dedicated to improving the lives of children and young adults with disabilities in Bulgaria. Through different fundraisers and awareness campaigns, we are able to provide support, resources and care for those in need. There is a home just near Sofia, where the young adults with disabilities receive the opportunity to gain independence by making and selling different handmade soaps, candles and jars of different types of jams. Such opportunities allow them to develop skills and earn a sort of income.

Additionally, for younger children with disabilities, they are able to offer a safe home where they are able to stay or receive extra-care during the daytime, allowing each child to be provided with the love, attention and support they all deserve. Being part of Cedar Foundation has also been a deeply rewarding experience, teaching me empathy, responsibility and patience. Throughout the work done,
we not only are able to provide assistance but change societies perceptions.

Savannah: CEDAR Foundation is an organization that helps children and adults with disabilities in a house found outside of Sofia. The foundation was created to ensure that the people in the house can be supported mentally and financially. The organization collects a group of students in AAS to come and do various activities with them, such as painting, cooking, and spending time together. The painting that we would create together would be sold and the money would go towards the Foundation.

I have been a part of this club for almost two years. CEDAR Foundation has allowed me to develop my communication, organizational, and leadership skills. I believe that I will be able to use these skills in the future. This foundation did not only help enhance important skills, but allowed me to learn and understand other perspectives of life that I had never been able to witness before.
