MS/HS Art Teacher

MS/HS ART TEACHER

The MS/HS/IB Visual Art Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in all students achieving academic success.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR HOLDING THE POSITION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Previous experience teaching Visual Art
  • Previous experience teaching IB Visual Art preferred
  • Previous experience teaching drawing, painting and technical art skills
  • Ability to teach introductory elements and principles of art
  • Experience in an international setting is preferred
  • Proficiency in Standards-Based Grading preferred
  • Proficiency in planning units
  • Fluency in English language
  • Excellent subject knowledge

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Instruct and assess students in Middle School, High School, and IBDP Visual Art courses using the AAS curriculum and instructional approach.
  • Create a positive and effective learning environment and monitor and assess students progress within a multilevel classroom. The Visual Art teacher must demonstrate an ability to teach different levels and age groups.
  • Teach MS/HS/IB Visual Art classes as assigned;
  • Be willing to work outside normal school hours for arts-related events
  • Provide instruction in assigned classes in accordance with the terms of the Contract and with the administrative practices established by the Director
  • Comply with and support all AAS procedures and Board policies as currently detailed in the Staff Handbook and School Board Policy Manual.
  • Be a strong role model and promote a positive and professional image for the school in the greater community
  • Develop curriculum, scheme of work, and lesson plans
  • Prepare classroom for class activities
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
  • Assign and grade class work and assessments
  • Provide timely feedback on all student work
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Lead an Advisory group
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as sporting activities, clubs and student organizations.

The Teacher working hours are between 8:00AM to 4:00PM as per the AAS Calendar.

Contract Length:

2 Years
