It's been a busy first week at AAS
Middle School reflection time during bootcamp

We had a short, but rather busy first week of school!

A special surprise was awaiting Middle School students - teachers had prepared some fun activities for them to ensure a smooth start of the year. The teens did their best to work in teams to build the highest paper tower and place the largest number of ping-pong balls in a bucket. After the active part, students had their reflection time, where many shared that they actually enjoyed playing and bonding with their classmates.

The week was busy for parents too - on Thursday evening we held the Elementary Back to School Night, where every parent could meet with the teachers and learn more about their subjects and methods of teaching.

On Friday, we symbolically “started” the school year with the Whole School Assembly. Students carried the flags of all the nationalities represented at AAS and Ms. Rossi performed the traditional “Water ceremony” to clean the obstacles on our path.

Dr. Fries, our new Director, offered a Bulgarian saying as a motto for the new school year - “Сговорна дружина планина повдига” (A conscientious team can lift a mountain), thus building on Jim Urquhart’s “Капка по капка вир става” (Drop by drop a whole lake becomes).

Then, the whole school community demonstrated teamwork by singing the school song together.
