A different Social Studies class

On Monday our Grade 10 students had an interesting Social studies class - they went on a trip to downtown Sofia to explore Bulgaria's Communist past. The guides, Stefan and Todor met the group at City Garden downtown. Then they split into two smaller groups of twenty and the two tour guides led a two hour walking tour through downtown Sofia, highlighting the history and locations that were significant in the Communist era. The topic directly connected local history to our 10th grade Social Studies unit on the Cold War. The guides informed the students of the relevant history of the places, monuments and buildings from G. Dimitrov's mausoleum to the Largo.

Special thanks to the PTO who sponsored this educational field trip.
