Elementary School
Harnessing Curiosity
Harnessing the natural curiosity and sense of wonder of the young student, AAS provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which the children are actively encouraged to participate in the learning process. Our inquiry-based curriculum teaches children to ask questions, explore ideas, think carefully about what they have learned, and strengthen their understanding.
This culture of inquiry and problem solving, encourages a love of learning which stays with students throughout their life. In addition, our program supports our young learners with building confidence, developing social skills, and learning how to collaborate.
Individual Attention &
Opportunities
Each Elementary classroom teacher is supported by a classroom teaching assistant. Every effort is, therefore, made to ensure that each child receives the individual attention that they need in order to meet their learning capabilities.
Teachers in the Elementary School value the learning of their pupils and offer many valuable opportunities for students to become confident, independent learners, experiencing success in all areas of school life.
Established Curriculum
All students follow an established curriculum which is informed by established standards in all subjects areas. There is also a large emphasis placed upon the understanding and appreciation of global citizenship which is a strong theme followed throughout the elementary experience.
The curriculum encompasses not only Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science but also specialist classes in subjects such as Art, Music, Bulgarian Studies and Physical Education. The language of instruction is English. Bulgarian, French, and Spanish are offered as Foreign language options.
