Director's Letter
Dear Families,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Anglo-American School of Sofia (AAS). This is my 11th year at AAS-Sofia. I spent five delightful years as the Elementary School Principal before becoming Director. My wife is a PreK-12 Curriculum Coordinator/Instructional Coach. Two of our three children have graduated from AAS and are now in college; our youngest is currently a HS student here.
The first thing you may notice at AAS is the beautiful purpose built campus, providing all the essential academic and co-curricular facilities. Set at the base of Mt. Vitosha, AAS is a splendid place to work and learn. As much as the campus is stunning, it is the welcoming community that sets AAS apart. I am confident that you will find the staff, students, and other AAS families to be friendly and supportive. Seeing the new friendships develop each year is wonderful.
In the classroom, we strive to meet each student where they are, and to help each student grow and succeed in every sense. Outside the classroom, AAS provides many opportunities for students to engage in fun and challenging activities and athletics. In academics, athletics, and activities, our students consistently perform better than their peers at other schools across the world.
AAS is a school of belonging. We strive to have every student, family member, staff member, visitor, and anyone else who steps onto the AAS campus and into the AAS community feel welcomed, respected, and valued for who they are. It is because of this approach that our students can focus on doing their best; it is because of this approach that our students excel in every regard.
If at any time you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tim Fries
