AAS is the international school of choice in Bulgaria and the wider Balkan region. It truly is an international school with approx 23% US/British citizens, 44% other internationals and 33% Bulgarian families. Over half of our teachers are recruited from outside Bulgaria.

We offer an international and multi-sourced curriculum that is concept-driven and inquiry-based, culminating in the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Grades 11 & 12. We adopt an inquiry based approach, encouraging children to discover, question, research & test their findings. 

We retain a small community feel while being able to take advantage of our purpose-built, state-of-the-art campus on the outskirts of the capital. Everyone feels the support of the AAS community through school and PTO events & daily interaction.

Graduates from AAS go on to attend some of the finest higher education institutions in the world. In 2018 89% of those who sat the full IB diploma were awarded an average points score of 33 (the global average is under 30).
