The Model United Nations (MUN) team participated in the 6th annual International Qatar MUN conference from February 3rd to February 6th. There were 36 countries and 66 schools in attendance. Our students (Sascho, Henry, Nora, Stephanie, Maggie, and Momchil) did extremely well, and we received three awards! • Honorable Mention Economic and Social committee award: Yemen, Momchil Nenchev. Monchil’s topics were Water Use and Management and Drug Trafficking. • Best Delegate in the Arab League committee: Yemen, Stephanie. Stephanie discussed Migrant Workers in the Middle East and The Gaza Flotilla Crisis • Best Delegate in the African Union committee: Western Sahara, Alexander Kamberov. Sascho discussed The Situation in Sudan, and Refugees and IDPs in Africa. Students participated in six committee sessions, but also have time to visit the Islamic Art Museum, the Villagio Mall, Education City (house to Virginia Commonwealth, Weill Cornell Medical, Texas A&M, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, and Northwestern University), and Souq Waqif. On the final day we had a diplomatic lunch where we shared our table with the Lebanon Cultural Attaché in Qatar.
