Author Visit – Bryn Barnard

The third week of October was Book Week at AAS- a time for students of all ages to celebrate books and the love of reading. To make it even more exciting, we had invited a book author for a series of meetings at the school.

Bryn Barnard, an American illustrator with more than twenty years of experience, presented his work in front of students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. He explained the process of creating a book – from the birth of an idea, through the research process and the creation of illustrations to publishing the ready product. Mr Barnard, whose primary interests are in the areas of natural and social history, discussed the topics of Dinosaurs and Epidemics in class. Students not only learned a lot, but also had the opportunity to see the talented illustrator at work as well as painting a T-rex from scratch. Kindergarteners even tried their hand at drawing dinosaurs by themselves!
