ES Winter Arts Festival – A sparkling success!
This week the AAS campus was abuzz in anticipation of the Winter Arts Festival. Teachers busily arranged displays of Elementary students’ artwork, classes were rehearsing daily and enthusiastic students were painting backdrops and sharing which costume they would wear for the performance.
Beautiful paintings and sculptures were displayed around the building - Kindergarten and Grade 2 works in the reception area, Grade 1 works on “Animals” and Grade 3 works on “Bulgarian Patterns” along the 1st floor corridor, Grades 4 and 5 works on Tone on the 2nd floor and many more.
On Wednesday evening, the cafeteria was filled with excited parents and even more excited kids – it was time for the musical performances. First up, Pre-K, Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 kids, dressed in red - the season’s most favored color - took the stage to sing some popular festive melodies.
Following on, it was time for students from Grades 3 to 5 and their performance of “Santa Goes Green”. The audience was quickly transported to “Santa’s Workshop” at the North Pole, where everyone was excited about making this year’s Christmas environmentally-friendly.
Throughout the show, the characters, led by the ever-wise Mrs. Claus, used song and dance to convince Santa that “going green” is good for everyone; solar panels, smart noses, reduce, reuse, recycle – all set to music! Students loved the songs and reveled in their performances with a smile on every face!
The Winter Arts Festival was a seasonal success, thanks to the combined efforts of students, Art, Music and Homeroom teachers, parents and support staff. Thank you also to the Parents-Teachers Organization for the lovely table arrangements, so perfectly matching the occasion. Thanks, everyone, for making it happen!
