“The Maids” captured the hearts of the AAS
audience

The AAS campus was abuzz with the news around the staging of Jean Genet's tragicomic play “The Maids” last week. The performances, held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, were a well-deserved success.
AAS staff and parents, as well as students and teachers from fellow schools came to see the two young talents – Briar Mills and Laure Moscheni and the charming “Madame”, played by our ES/ MS Counselor Mrs. Laura Giosh-Markov.
The two servant girls – Solange and Claire lead a double life. Tireless, timid and submissive in the presence of their Madame, the Maids fantasize about taking revenge on her while she is away. They are audacious and bold in their plans to kill Madame, but when she returns, the girls dare not oppose her.
As the story of the maids and their egocentric Madame developed, the audi-ence was captivated by their dark and dramatic characters so skillfully de-picted by the actresses. The set was carefully arranged to the last detail, to replicate the interior of a lavish post-war apartment.
“The Maids” performance is a milestone in the development of the AAS IB Theatre Program. Applause to the great team that worked hard for weeks to make it happen. They definitely raised the expectations of the audience very high. We will all be eagerly awaiting their next success!
