Wavrin family

When we moved to Sofia in 1989 our sons, Matt and Jacob, were 7 and 4 years of age. We had a bit of a hassle when we first moved to Bulgaria as our shipment got lost... for a year as it turned out. That was a real adventure. We also needed to have the embassy lend us the money for a Volvo 440 that we picked up in Amsterdam. Anyway, it was an interesting first year. We certainly did enjoy our 4 years in Bulgaria and were there for some wild and crazy times, starting in November of that year. We worked in Sofia until 1993. At that time we moved on to Poland where we lived for 8 years.
Poland became the place that we stayed for the longest stint of time.
Matt graduated from the school in Warsaw in 2000. He then went back to the U.S. and enlisted in the Air Force. After his discharge in 2004 he stayed in Tucson where he had been stationed and is now a student there.
We came back to the U.S. in the summer of 2001. Though we are originally from Minnesota, we decided to embark on another adventure and moved to another "foreign" land: Falls Church, Virginia. Yes, we lived in the shadow of the Beltway for two years while I taught 3rd grade at the Flint Hill School in Oakton. I had just begun my second week of teaching at that school when the events of September 11th took place. We were ready to head back to Europe at that point.
After our youngest son, Jacob graduated from Flint Hill in 2003 Kris and I decided to head back to Minnesota. Jacob enlisted in the Air Force and is currently stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base in Minnesota. I am teaching at a wonderful Catholic school in the Mpls./St. Paul suburb of Brooklyn Park. Kris and I are enjoying our lives as empty nesters though we miss our boys, of course. We are probably going to go recruiting again next winter in hopes of teaching again in an overseas environment. We in fact hope to retire overseas.
Once again thanks for contacting me, Maria...Hope to hear from you again...

Sincerely, Mike Wavrin
