ICT

AAS is very fortunate to have very modern and well maintained ICT equipment with an objective to routinely upgrade and expand our resources. There are more than100 networked computers around the school. Each classroom is equipped with three or four desktops and projector with a notebook. Our students have access to these computers and to two very modern computer labs, one servicing the elementary school and the other one for the middle and the high school. Each lab is equipped with 20 powerful computers, a projector, color printer, headphones and microphones. In addition we have 3 scanners and a number or digital still and video cameras for use across the school. Students are taught proper management and editing techniques as they use the cameras frequently. Lastly, to ensure maximum access, two carts of 10 notebook computers are available for all classes to book and use in the classroom throughout the year.

Our program across the curriculum is supported by a wide range of educational software titles running on Windows platform. Teaching of ICT includes not only how to use software but how to make decisions about which application is most suitable. Digital Citizenship is an important part of our program ensuring that students understand the impact of ICT and the need for safe, secure and ethical use of digital technology including the Internet.

The ICT manager ensures smooth implementation and monitoring of the school ICT strategy across the organization. ICT teachers work closely with all classroom teachers and specialists to plan and deliver engaging, cross curricular lessons.

The school network is maintained on a daily basis by a full time network manager and desktop support technician.
