Middle SchoolAAS Middle School promotes the ethos of independent learning and aims to equip students with the study skills they need to achieve in their learning careers. Teaching in the Middle School encourages the development of open-minded and creative learners, inspiring students to think critically and gain ownership of their knowledge and achievement. In order to facilitate the transition from elementary to Middle School, grade 6 students are self contained and taught by two core teachers. Students see specialist teachers for all other subjects. In grades 7 and 8, all students are taught by specialist teachers and benefit from a cohesive and diverse curriculum. The academic program is designed to ensure smooth transitions between all three areas of the school, from the elementary to the middle school and finally to the high school. The curriculum in grades 6, 7 and 8 continues to offer Mathematics, Science, English, Social studies, Physical Education, French and ESL. Bulgarian Language is also introduced in grade 6 as a foreign language option. Specialist programs in Art, ICT, and Music are also offered and supported by our purpose built, modern facilities. A strength of the Middle School program is also realized in the Co-curricular element of the curriculum. AAS encourages students to take an active interest in the community around them and to offer their support to a wide range of community service projects. There are numerous extracurricular trips throughout the school year. Students benefit greatly from these cultural experiences and the trips play an important part in the development of the student outside of the classroom. Students also have the opportunity to try new sports and travel to surrounding countries in order to compete with neighboring International schools. |
