Living in Sofia Sofia, the Bulgarian capital, is located on Bulgaria’s western border, a major trade route that connects Europe and Asia, serving as a cultural and economic link for Bulgaria and the Balkan region. Sofia is situated at the foot of Vitosha Mountain and benefits from many cultural and leisure advantages the region can offer. AAS boasts a stunning, environmentally friendly and award-winning campus located just outside of the city, at the base of Vitosha mountain. The location is beautiful, and it is only a 20-minute ride from downtown Sofia. Our staff and community enjoy living surrounded by incredible cultural events and historic landmarks, and the convenience offered by the great variety of amenities such as quality stores, restaurants, bars, clubs etc. Overseas faculty is offered the choice of living in inner Sofia, where everything is close at hand, or in the outskirts of the capital, closer to both nature and the AAS school campus.
