ICT Curriculum
INTRODUCTION
AAS has chosen to adopt the description “Information and Communication
Technology” (ICT) to describe the teaching and learning that will
take place using, amongst other technologies, personal computers. This title
accurately describes the use of emergent technologies of networks, including
the Internet, and electronic mail and communication systems. It includes
“Information Technology” and “Computer”.
ICT MISSION STATEMENT
- We aim to further the school Mission Statement and Aims through the implementation
of the ICT program.
- We aim to provide the means by which teaching and learning can be enhanced
through the use of information and communication technology.
- We believe that all students should have the opportunity to benefit from
a range of ICT experiences. We aim to incorporate good practice from the
National Curriculum for England: information and communication technology
alongside the NETS (National Educational Technology Standards) from ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education). The NETS project defines standards for students integrating technology, technology support, and standards for student assessment and evaluation of technology use.
To live, learn, and work successfully in an increasingly complex and information-rich society, students must be able to use technology effectively. We aim to enable our students to become proficient at:
- Using information and communication technology
- Seeking, analysing and evaluating information
- Solving problems and making decisions
- Using productivity tools efficiently and creatively
- Communicating, collaborating, publishing and producing
