Curriculum

Our educational program has a specific requirement to be responsive to the needs of our students whose parents are employed by the American and British Embassies. Thus it incorporates best practice from American curricula and the UK National Curriculum. Each area of the curriculum has its own Mission Statement and a number of Goals, which are divided into Key and Specific Objectives. Summaries of each curriculum area can be found on the left-hand navigation menu of this page. The full curricula are available in the school’s library on CD.

The curriculum has four core elements: Language & Literacy, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The following subjects enhance our students’ learning and support our core program: Art, Music, Drama, Personal, Social, and Health Education, Physical Education and Bulgarian Cultural Studies. At all levels, the students’ work is further enhanced by their use of the Library, and of Information and Communication Technology (Computers). We also teach French as a Foreign Language from grade one through high school and offer Bulgarian as a second language option from grade one to twelve. Spanish is offered as an option to students in high school.
